Boynton was originally drafted by the Washington Capitals
as a first round draft pick, ninth overall, in 1997. Boynton and the Caps never reached a contract agreement, and Boynton
re-entered the draft in 1999. He was drafted by the Boston Bruins, again as a first round draft pick, 21st overall. Boynton
played four seasons with the Ottawa 67's (OHL), and led them to the Memorial Cup Championship as captain in 1999. He also
won the tournaments MVP award. Nick was an astounding +81 while playing for the 67's in the 1996-1997 season. Boynton
joined the Bruins full time in 2001-02, playing his first NHL season. Finished second among rookies in +/- rating at a +18.
Scored his first NHL goal/point against then Anaheim Mighty Duck Steve Shields. Nick had a new career season high in goals,
assists, and points in 2002-03. Scored a GWG in overtime Dec. 7th vs. Tampa Bay. Missed 3 games to injury/illness.
